The Queens Park Hotel is less than a 10 minute walk from Kensington Palace and Gardens. Kensington Palace is located in Kensington Gardens to the west of Hyde Park and is the official London residence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Kensington Palace is a royal palace in Kensington Gardens. It has been a royal residence since the 17th century. As mention above it is the official residence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge otherwise known as Will and Kate. Diana Princess of Wales had an apartment at the palace between 1981-1997. Some areas of Kensington Palace are open to the public including King's State Apartments, the Queen's State Apartments and the Gardens.
Kensington Palace was originally known as Nottingham House. In 1689 William III bought the Jacobean mansion from his Secretary of State, the Earl of Nottingham. Until the death of George II in 1760, Kensington Palace was the favourite residence of successive sovereigns.
